is passionate about prison ministry and every week he visits with the young people that are in the Youth detention center.  While in Africa , visiting in the prisons is his favorite ministry time.  Jason is also an avid hunter and wake boarder.

April is an attorney and is returning to work on a part-time basis after being a stay-at-home mom for 12 years.  She also has been active in prison ministry and in mentoring young ladies from her home church.  April’s passion in recent years has been to raise Godly, confident children and to help college girls, young married women and young mothers find their way.  She is also passionate about the game of tennis.  The whole Roark family travels to CMIA together and it is such a blessing to watch Katy and Jacob minister right along with the adults.  They all have fallen in love with Kenya , Africa , and with the Hatleys, and with what God is doing through the ministry of CMIA. 

Ken Ruffing serves as an usher at Church in the City in Rowlett, Texas.  He is employed as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Dallas. Ken’s heart is to minister one on one with individuals that he meets on a daily basis through his position at the Post Office. Ken is married to Barbara, a teacher at Rockwall Christian Academy, a ministry of Church in the City. They have two sons: Shawn, 21; and Jason, 19.  Both Ken and Barbara have served overseas previously.

Ken and Barbara have been personal friends of The Hatley Family for nearly 25 years.  Ken has visited CMIA twice.  The most recent trip was in November of 2006, when he and Barbara were able to travel to Kenya to spend two weeks with them, visiting several of CMIA's churches, schools, and orphanages, and participating in a pastors and wives conference.  During this time they were greatly impacted by the opportunity to see the tremendous ministry that David and Jennifer have faithfully built over the years.
