David and Jennifer Hatley were ordained and commissioned as Missionaries to Africa in April 1985 by Dr. David Shibley and Dr. Larry Lea, at that time Missions Director and Senior Pastor, respectively, of the original Church on the Rock in Rockwall, Texas . They departed for Kenya with their children Georgianna, then seven, and Cameron, five, a few days later.
David heads up the church planting/strengthening and pastoral training arm of CMIA, while in addition serving as an African representative for Global Advance, a United States-based church leadership training organization headed by Dr. David Shibley.
Jennifer's main area of involvement lies in the various ministries to children, including schools and children’s homes.

In their years on the mission field the Hatley Family have grown in numbers, with the birth of Penelope in 1987, the addition of orphaned twin toddlers, Wambui & Nyaguthii in 1998, followed by that of Rose Njeri, who was resident at Grace Children's Centre Main Home from 1998–2003.
Son Cameron, 27, married to Laura Kavai (a Kenyan national) since 2002, has served as a ministry assistant to his father on the field, but currently resides stateside where Laura just completed an MBA at Anderson University in Indiana.
Georgianna, 29, married Scott Noel in August 2006. She teaches English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at the college level in Dallas.
Twenty year-old Penelope—born and raised in Kenya—finished secondary school in Nairobi in 2006, soon after moving to Seattle to begin her first experience living in the USA. In August 2007 she was married to James Willer, whom she met when he visited Kenya as a member of a short term ministry team in 2004. Jim teaches at a Montessori daycare and kindergarten while Penny settles into her new role as wife and homemaker.
